1. Invest in Systems – Yes we can do it all because we have the passion, but we do not have infinite time and energy. Invest in good systems to handle different parts of your business and save your time for more strategic work to grow your business. Leave the rest to the best.
2. Write a blog – Write a regular blog covering topics that relate to your business, have a theme or topic to get people interested and write on a regular basis. Not only would this help you gain more knowledge as you do research about the topic but it will also help you gain a steady flow of customers who will find you authentic and approachable. What’s more SEO loves an active website so ensure that your blog is connected to your website.
3. Invest in SEO – Never before has SEO become as important with increased competition and reduced attention spans. Make sure that your business ranks on the top page of a search by adding your business on Google maps to start with and ensuring that you have those necessary keywords in your website and other profiles.
4. Focus on Analytics – Having a presence on social media is not enough. You can generate real leads from there by using the ‘Analytics’ tool to understand customer behaviour, their needs and target your audience based on interest, location, etc. Analytics is usually a free tool offered by most social media platforms so get started!
5. Network in extended circles – While you may be networking in your own industry circles as you grow your business it is important that you extend yourself to bigger, wider circles that may offer you an opportunity to expand and generate new ideas to build your brand and business.
6. Stay focused on your core strengths – As business expand you may come across new ideas that you may want to try out, new products, new way of doing things to build excitement both for you and customers. However do remember that your business is based on your core strengths which is your super niche. So while you expand and extend yourself, stick to what your core strengths.
7. Annual Strategic Plan – Review and revise your business plan once every year to have an understanding of your current market and knowing where you are headed in the next year. It would also help you evaluate partnerships and processes that did not work and have an action plan for building new ones. Customer, competition, people, processes, product, niche – an annual strategic plan builds a roadmap to the near future.
